Dirty Game by Lana Piers | Book Review

When I picked up the first book in this series, I never expected it to change my mind about sports romance. You all know how I am not typically crazy about them so I read only a very small number of them. Yet here I am, closing the final book with a smile on my face and already missing these characters. If you've ever wondered whether hockey romance is worth trying, this series makes a pretty convincing argument.Dirty Game by Lana Piers | Book Reviewfive-stars

Genres: Sports Romance

The research was supposed to stay professional. It absolutely did not.

A virgin romance author. An NHL playboy. One โ€œresearch arrangementโ€ that gets wildly out of control.

Sully never expected her attempt to write better spice scenes to end with Pax shirtless on her couch explaining orgasms.

The shy romance author has spent years crushing on the Edmonton Renegades defenseman from afar. But asking the leagueโ€™s most notorious player for โ€œresearch helpโ€ was supposed to stay professional.

Mostly professional.

Pax knows exactly what people think of him.

Hockey player. Playboy. Walking bad decision.

What he doesnโ€™t expect is becoming completely obsessed with the awkward, baggy-clothes-wearing virgin who treats him like a real person instead of a fantasy.

Now their innocent research sessions are turning into lingerie fittings, filthy lessons, public teasing, and dangerously addictive nights tangled together on Sullyโ€™s couch.

And the more the shy romance author explores her fantasies with him, the faster Pax realizes he doesnโ€™t just want another hookup.

He wants her trust. Her heart. Her forever.

But Sully has always believed sex should mean love.

And for the first time in his life, the NHL bad boy is terrified she might be rightโ€ฆ because losing her already feels impossible.

my review

I have been waiting for Pax’s story because there is just something about the bad boy who slowly lets someone see the softer side of him. Sully was the perfect match for him. As the coach’s daughter, she already had plenty of expectations placed on her, but I loved watching her step into her own confidence throughout the story. She wasn’t there simply to support Pax. She had her own journey, and seeing her grow made me love her just as much as I loved him.

The friendship between them gave the romance a solid natural foundation, so when things started changing, it was believable. Every conversation, every stolen glance, and every bit of banter made me want to keep reading.

Their chemistry was impossible to ignore. Lana Piers knows exactly how to build tension without rushing the relationship, and when the romance finally takes off, it completely delivers. The emotional moments hit just as hard as the lighter ones, and I found myself smiling through so much of this book.
