Thirst Trap by Lani Lynn Vale
Series: The Carter Brothers #3
Genres: Romantic Suspense
Toxic: very harmful or unpleasant in an invasive or sinister way.
One word. Two consonants. Five letters. Two people.
Quinn James Carter met Solei Shayne Rodriguez his senior year of high school.
At first, he tried to stay away from her. But the heart wants what the heart wants, and if there were two people in this world who were meant to be together, it was Shayne and him.
Sadly, life doesn’t work out like you plan.
A single, brash, knee-jerk reaction has them both deciding that their relationship is never going to work. A cop and a notorious criminal’s sister can’t have a happily ever after, can they?
Consequently, they go their separate ways.
They live their lives.
And time after time, they come right back to each other, giving the term ‘toxic relationship’ a new meaning.
Anger, jealousy, hurt, and pain run hand in hand with their persistent need to stay in each other’s lives, no matter if it’s in a healthy way or not.
But eventually, time catches up to them.
Fate decides their path for them, and one of them has to wind up nearly dead for them to admit that they can make it work if they want to. They only have to try.

Review
Shayne and Quinn met in high school and fell in love. However Shayne’s brother is affiliated with a gang and Quinn felt that he needed to break up with her since he was a cop. I know, even writing that out sounded stupid. You can see right away where Quinn made a mistake. He knows he made a mistake but his whole family is cops and he thought he was doing the right thing. he though that Sayne would pull away from her brother and they could get back together.
Years go by and they float in and out of one another lives. Shayne is Ande’s (Quinn’ sister) best friend so they always connected in that way. They have loved one another through all of the hurt, time, and distance. Just when you think they may be going to get back together external forces (I wanted to throat punch someone) manage to keep them apart.
It is like the universe is set against these two. No matter how often they gravitate towards one another something pulls them apart. Just when you can’t take it anymore there is light at the end of the tunnel.Everything these two went through to be together honestly made me want to throw my Kindle across the room at times.
I will say this for Lani Lynn Vale, she sure knows how to play with my emotions. Shayne’s brother left me feeling some kind of way. Although by the end I liked him a little bit more than other characters (who again I wanted to throat punch) I felt like he needed a good punch or two at various times.
As always the Carters are wonderful throughout the entire book. I cannot wait for Auden and the baker to get their story now.
