Even without having read the first book in the series, this story completely pulled me under and refused to let go. Solace absolutely wrecked me in the best possible way — then slowly, painfully, stitched me back together with grit, devotion, and earned redemption.

This is not a gentle love story. It’s one forged in regret, betrayal, and survival. Winnie and Finn share a history that’s messy and unresolved, and the emotional tension between them crackles from the very first page. Their past love didn’t simply fade — it detonated — and both of them have been living with the fallout ever since.

Winnie is a powerhouse of a heroine. She’s strong, scarred, stubborn, and done settling for anything less than what she deserves. She doesn’t crumble just because Finn wants her back, and I loved that she made him work for every inch of trust. Watching her stand firm inside a world that once broke her was raw, empowering, and deeply satisfying.

Finn Kinsella is the kind of MMC that hurts to read — in the best way. He is regret wrapped in leather, carrying the weight of one terrible night that changed everything. His POV is heavy with accountability. He doesn’t excuse his past; he owns it. He aches for Winnie, fights for her, and is determined to be her safety this time around. His redemption arc is intense, emotional, and incredibly well earned.

The MC setting is gritty and dangerous, filled with tension and looming threats, but it never overshadows the romance. Instead, it heightens it. There’s a constant sense that something could go wrong at any moment, which kept me glued to the pages and racing through the story.

At its core, this book is about finding peace after devastation. About choosing love again when it feels impossible. About learning that sometimes the place your heart finds solace is the very place it was once shattered.
