Mistaken Identity by Lani Lynn Vale
Series: Content Advisory #5
Genres: Romantic Suspense
From the moment Creole Williams met Audric Ingram, they were inseparable.
But not the way one would think.
They shared a best friend.
What they did not do, however, was like each other.
You could say that it was a war to win the best friend title.
The only problem was, their best friend would never choose a clear winner. So they spent their teenage years fighting it out. What Audric didn’t know, though, was that Creole was desperately in love with him.
The same went for Audric. He wanted Creole more than his next breath.
But it was never the right time.
Then life happened, and it kicked them both in the teeth.
One second they’re acting, and the next the anger is real, and neither one of them can stand to be near the other.
For years, they fight it out, one-upping each other to the point where neither one of them can be in the same room with each other without things going to hell.
Then one day their best friend dies, and they have to figure out a way to live without her.
There’s no fighting anymore, at least verbally. Physically, however? They let their bodies duke it out the fun way.
But in the end, neither one of them wins.

Review
By chapter four I was in tears. If there was ever a book where you need to have your tissues ready then this is the one. Then I read chapter four and all I could think was “you sneaky devil you Lani Lynn Vale!” Then I kept reading and things got better and better. A lot happens early on and I was left with some serious feelings about all of it. Some were good, some were heartbreaking, and few made me want to get punchy.
Audric and Creole were childhood friends but things happen and they end up drifting apart. This is their chance to reconnect and put the past behind them. They were so good together as a couple. There is such love and care there that you can tell they have known each other for years. There is plenty of spice when they come together as well. Creole was a wonderful character. She is someone who should be bitter and resentful with the things in her past but she is so hopeful and full of life. It is hard not to be drawn to her.
I will say that every single time I read Creole Williams, my brains immediately went “lived down a dirt road He made homemade wine like nobody I know” For those who aren’t old enough to know that’s the beginning of the lyrics to Dust on the Bottle by David Lee Murphy and it came year I graduated high school. Just seeing her name Creole didn’t cause this to happen but the minute it got put together, I was young again and that song was stuck in my head.
Audric had so much more going on than I ever expected. We know he is raising his little girl, Lottie, and in this book we get more of that story. My jaw hit the floor with all of this. That is all I am going to say and one of my favorite quotes happens in relation to this part of the story. The problem is I can’t tell you what it is because it gives too much away. When you read the book though you will know what I am thinking of when it happens.
We do get a little more of Gunner in this story as well as Cakes. I always like learning about other members of MC and having them make things more real. When Parker from Maybe Don’t Wanna is mentioned it clicked into place for me. I don’t know why it didn’t previously but I knew we had met Gunner before and knowing he is Parker’s nephew makes much more sense with him now. I am more than ready for the next book now.

It sounds like another great book in this series! I’m a bit behind in reading theses books, but I can’t wait to read this one!!
You should because trust me when I say these are so good.
