This was a different sort of book for me. I am going to be honest and tell y’all that I have just recently heard the term Lavender and what it is when it comes to romance. I am not always up on all the lingo and such. This book was so well written and there was a lot I really enjoyed about it.

Review

This book is set against the backdrop of Hollywood in its glory days. Back when McCarthyism was prevalent and so was rising star Marilyn Monroe. Add in atomic testing, international unrest after the war and you get the idea of what Audrey is facing as she moves from Sheffield, UK  to Hollywood. 

Audrey dreams of living in Hollywood and marrying a movie star which seems impossible with her minister father but she sets out to follow her dream and takes a chance. Taking a job as a secretary for an agent she is flabbergasted that movie star Rex Trent is interested in her. She soon learns that he has secrets and his interest in her is about more.

I loved this book! I always enjoy reading about old Hollywood and this had it in spades. You felt as though you were right there reading the headlines of the day and living it. That is difficult to accomplish in a book but Alexandra did it beautifully. This felt like it could be one of those Lifetime movies that you watch about glamorous movie stars of days gone by.
