I felt for Chance. He went to war only to be betrayed by a someone he loved he loved as well as ended up being injured. He was betrayed in a rather spectacular way and it has left more scars than those that a bomb could ever leave. He left him never wanting to fall in love or have a relationship again.
Cassidy has also been betrayed, not by someone she loved, but by those who should have protected her. She is on the run and doing her best to survive knowing that at any minute her own personal hell could show up. These two meet and the chemistry is off the charts!
They both do their best to not give in to it because they are attempting to protect not only themselves but each other as well. Then they decide to take a stand together and face their demons head on. I love this series and this book is the great addition to the others.
I will say that seeing Grandma Sybil who just needed to go to the bathroom only to return with a shot gun was awesome! You really have to read the book to find out what I mean. It had me laughing out loud. Both her reaction as well as the men’s reactions.
