The BBC Big Read: Take Two

Jan. 01, 2026

3 Books on My Christmas List #HOHOHOhop

In April 2003 the BBC began searching for the nation’s best loved novel, and asked the public to nominate their favorite book. They ended up with a list of 100 books and I thought in 2022 that I would work my way through that list. Of course, I didn’t really do anything with it. There are a couple of books that I have read at some point in my life but none of them recently. So, I thought this year I would work on the list and invite y’all to do the same.

I would love to say that I am planning on doing the list in one year but let’s face it we all know how that will turn out. What I will be doing is updating the side bar with the current book from the list as I am working my way through them. If you happen to be reading from this list as well then please feel free to share what book you are reading in the comments.

I will say that I plan to do a couple of giveaways (three or four) around this list this year. I will be posting the first one soon. Reading over the list some of these are books that many of us should have read in high school or college. I don’t know if they are still required reading but I can remember several from my literature classes. Of course there are a couple that will take me longer to read because of the Old English they are written in and I always seem to struggle with it for some reason.  Especially Charles Dickens! He gets me every single time.

Anyway, I hope that y’all will join me on this reading list and who knows maybe next year we will create a list of our own to work our way through. Oh, FYI I will be updating on the ones I read with at least a read date next to them. I don’t know if I will be doing a full on review but we shall see.

CAN YOU KEEP HER SUPERNATURAL SECRET? Moon of Secr CAN YOU KEEP HER SUPERNATURAL SECRET?
Moon of Secrets by Brenda Trim and Tia Didmon is now live!!

https://geni.us/MoonofSecrets

To stop the darkness, I must walk among the enemy

Going undercover in a rival wolf pack wasn't part of the plan, but it's the only way to uncover their true motives. With a false identity and a carefully spun lie, I slip into their hidden community, only to learn the truth is far more dangerous than I imagined.

These wolves aren't evil. They're being used. Manipulated by an ancient entity that feeds on shifter energy, one bent on harnessing enough power to permanently darken the moon. If it succeeds, every wolf shifter will gain unstoppable strength, at the cost of our humanity.

As suspicion sharpens around me, I lean on Eve's spells to mask my identity and Salima's guidance to reach my allies on the outside. Time is running out, the lunar ritual draws near, and I'm walking a razor's edge between exposure and survival.

Because saving the city isn't enough this time. I have to save them, even if they tear me apart for the truth.

Find out what lurks in the shadows of Ravenholde by reading Moon of Secrets, the Paranormal Women's Fiction series readers are comparing to Shannon Mayer, K.F. Breene, and Victoria Dannan.

I blame getting pregnant on my sister getting mauled by a bear.
If she hadn’t been attacked that day, I wouldn’t have come home to check on her. I wouldn’t have run
into Boone Windsor at that bar. I wouldn’t have gone home with him, ready to drown my sorrows in a
different, more satisfying way.
I wouldn’t have given him that second chance.
Not after he’d so badly burned the first chance.
I would’ve gone back to work half the country away, and I would’ve kept my head in the sand where
Boone was involved.
But my sister did get attacked. I did give Boone a second chance.
And I almost died because of it.
After my memories are lost in an accident that almost takes both of our lives, Boone makes me fall in
love with him all over again.
And since I didn’t know all the hell that awaited me, I didn’t guard my heart.
I fell, and fell, and fell until there was nowhere else to go but down.
Then, when those memories come back and I’m faced with the consequences of my actions, I didn’t
falter.
I knew he was hell, yet I chose to burn with him anyway.
