Lauren
Running into an ex you haven’t seen in nearly a decade is never a good time.
Running into your ex while he’s arresting you is humiliating.
The handcuffs close around my fists at the same time he promises to hate me until he takes his last breath.
I can’t blame him. He pleaded for me not to walk away. He doesn’t know leaving him broke my heart as much as it did his.
It wasn’t for me. Rather, it was for someone else.Gage
I skipped town after Hurricane Lauren obliterated my heart.
Coming home was a hard choice to make. Arresting her isn’t.
She has no idea of the demons I carry with me now. No idea that I’m a new man.
Two women ruined me.
One I gave my heart to.
The other punished me for it.

Review
I had a hard time getting into the other books in this series. They were good but just were missing something for me. That said I’m thrilled I went into this one with an open mind. I loved the little pieces we got of Lauren in the other two books and I think that is what made me really want to read her story. Lauren was Gage’s high school sweetheart until she broke his heart without any warning or reason. Gage moves to Chicago but returns home once his father’s health starts to deteriorate. Now he is back and not only is broken but also hates Lauren! At least that is what he tells himself.
From the get go I wondered why Lauren broke up with Gage. I mean there had to be a reason and I was shocked to find out why she did it. This was such a roller coaster but one that was so worth it in the end. I almost didn’t bother with this one but am so glad that I did. Even the moments when Gage is being such a jerk. One thing that I really LOVED was the way that Gage’s best friend, Kyle, called Lauren Satan! that is what a best friend is suppose to be. It doesn’t matter what you think or feel about a person the moment their hurt your friend you are done with them and hate their guts.

My first thought was that Lauren was pregnant and didn’t want to tie Gage down.
