Wild Hunger by Suzanne Wright
Series: The Phoenix Pack #7
Genres: Paranormal Romance
When half–wolf shifter Frankie Newman receives an e-mail from a family member she didn’t know existed, a secret is revealed: as a child, Frankie witnessed her father killing her mother…and then himself. Frankie was torn from her pack by her mother’s human relatives, and the trauma was erased from her memory. Realizing that she’s been lied to her entire life, she’s never felt more alone. Until she catches the scent of an old friend—warmly familiar and intoxicating.
Trick Hardy, enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, can sense the rush of mutual attraction when he sees Frankie again. He knows immediately that she’s his true mate. But he also knows that, given her fragile state, he needs to tread with care—no matter how fierce his surging desires.
As aroused as Frankie is by Trick’s darkly dominant air and simmering desire, her priority right now is her past—not her future, no matter how tempting. But as more secrets emerge and Frankie’s life is threatened, Trick must do everything he can to keep her close and safe. After all, it’s their destiny.
Wild Hunger Book Review
Trick has been a character that I was uncertain of. I didn’t understand him until now. This book explains so much about Trick and why he never had a problem scratching his itch with anyone he wanted to.
Trick knew Frankie as children and when his pack mate (Frankie’s aunt ) asks her to come and visit Trick is certain that Frankie is his mate. In fact, I am pretty sure that Trick knew it always but because she was so young it didn’t register. He doesn’t have anything “clogging” his mate frequency. That is discussed in other books and it is this thing that allows mates to recognize one another.
For Frankie she has spent her life being raised by humans. Humans that hate shifters since Frankie’s shifter father killed her human mother. Frankie has always felt a bit out of place and now she has the chance to find out what happened to her parents. What drove her father to not only kill her mother but kill himself as well.
“The lie hurts too. It makes me wonder what else you’ve lied to me about.”
I loved Frankie as a character. She is strong because she needs to be but there an innocence about her that makes her endearing. She is trying so hard to find out what happened and find herself. At the same time she is coming to terms with her shifter family and learning to be Trick’s mate.
Trick, as said, confused me but in the end he was much more than I ever thought him to be. Before I saw him as the guy would was up for a good time yet could be serious if he needed to be. There is a darkness to him though that he never showed before. I loved it and I loved the way he just knew that Frankie was his. He didn’t go through or deal with the doubt the way any of the other guys had up to this point.
His mouth flattened. “I’m Trick Hardy, one of Lydia’s pack mates.” And your true mate, but we’ll get to that later. “You and I used to play together as kids.”
I will say that I surprised as to what really happened with her parents and who was behind everything. The way things came out was perfect. It was heart-pounding and kept me on the edge of my seat. Who would survive? Would the bad guys get theirs?
As always the ladies of the book have a field day teasing Greta who in turn argues with them all right back. In truth I am more than certain that she loves each and every one of them. However she doesn’t want to appear too tender hearted. It would go against the tough image she presents.
Frankie licked her fork. “When I look at you, I see someone so ancient she probably has an autographed Bible.”
All in all this was the perfect installment of this series and I can’t wait for the next one. Of course I am eagerly awaiting Dominic’s book simple because I know it will be the one that will do me in. He is too much of a flirt to not be given a phenomenal book.
