Well Aware by Lani Lynn Vale
Series: Don't Date Him #9
Genres: Romantic Suspense
About the Book:
A one-night stand, agreed on by both parties, was supposed to be just that. One night.
The next day, when Magnolia Baker walked in to the first practice for her last season of professional soccer with the Cowgirls, she expected it to go pretty smoothly. She was a veteran player, nothing surprised her anymore.
At least, until her one night stand walks through the door.
Her new boss, Beaufort Vanderbilt.
The man that set her blood on fire, and made words stutter from her mouth.
For eight months, they fight the connection, acting like they don’t feel a thing for each other.
Then tragedy hits Beau’s life, and she forgets that she’s supposed to remain professional. She forgets that she’s supposed to be the player and him the owner.
Lines are crossed, and soon, they can’t hide a thing from the people around them.
But Beau’s only partial owner of the team she desperately needs to play to remain hidden from her previous life. The other half-owner is dead set on tearing them apart, and making an example out of her. An example that will be a bright, shining warning flag to all future players to never follow in her footsteps.
Not if they want to ever play professional soccer again.

my review
I have so many thoughts about this book and having to write a review without any spoilers is so difficult. First I love how this one started with Magnolia and Beau meeting and having a one night stand. That was perfect. Of course then she finds out he is her new boss. Again, perfect set up.
Honestly everything about this book made me laugh, cry, and just enjoy it. I enjoyed it so much that I called my brother at work to tell him about some scenes that left me feeling some kind of way. He was not as receptive as I felt he should have been. Let’s leave it at that. Anyway, the chemistry between Magnolia and Beau is so good. They are working together and both do their level best to keep one another in that employer/employee box. It’s not easy but I felt like I did it well.
Iris steals the show. Every single time she is there it is like everyone lights up around her. I love when all the other guys from the MC decide they can’t have her not liking them as much as she likes Beau. It is a sweet scene and just so endearing.
There are some moments though that were tough. First I hated Beau’s sister! She was a piece of work and the people from Magnolia’s past were less than stellar let me say. The biggest moment though was the blind side I didn’t see coming at all. I was heartbroken and angry all at the same time. All I am going to say about this is that I hope it makes sense in a future book.
We do get to see Apollo in this book because it wouldn’t be a Don’t Date Him book if we didn’t and like many of the others we get another character from a previous series. Here we got Quincy Carter which I am always up for. I adore the Carters, so seeing him made my day. It almost made up for everything else. ALMOST!
