Have you ever looked at a list of “must-read” books and quietly thought, I haven’t read a single one of those? Welcome to the club. That’s exactly how Everyone Read It… Except Me was born.

As someone who reads hundreds of books every year, people are often surprised to discover there are still wildly popular books and series I’ve never picked up. Sometimes it’s because I was busy reading something else when everyone else was obsessed. Sometimes it’s because I simply never got around to it. And sometimes well, there are just too many books and not enough hours in the day.

Instead of pretending I’d already read everything, I decided to turn those gaps into a series.

What Is “Everyone Read It… Except Me”?

This is my ongoing Instagram series where I finally dive into the books and series that readers seem to have loved long before I got there. Some of these titles have been sitting on my shelves for years. Others have been recommended so many times that I can no longer ignore them. Either way, it’s time to see what all the excitement is about.

Along the way I’ll be sharing:

My first impressions before I start reading.
Reading updates as I make my way through the book.
My honest, spoiler-free thoughts when I finish.
Whether I think the hype was worth it.

The goal isn’t to judge popular books. It’s to experience them with fresh eyes and join conversations I’ve been missing. I will also be having longer conversations about those books here on the blog. I didn’t want to do that on Instagram because I don’t want to spoil things and I can have a spoiler notice on the blog.

Why I’m Excited About It

One of my favorite things about reading is that there’s no expiration date on a good story. A book doesn’t stop being worth reading just because everyone else discovered it five years ago. In fact, sometimes it’s even more fun because I get to experience it without the pressure of release-day excitement.

If you’ve been putting off a book everyone else seems to have read, maybe this series will encourage you to finally pick it up, too.

Already on the List

I know a lot of people are going to suggest A Court of Thorns and Roses. All of that series as well as the other books from Sarah J. Maas are already on my list. I have already finished the ACOTAR and will be posting my longer conversation very soon.
