Violent Little Thing by Lani Lynn Vale
Series: Don't Date Him #10
Genres: Romantic Suspense
About the Book:
Tropes:☀️ Grumpy × Sunshine 🏡 Small-Town Romance 🖤 Widower ⚽ Sports Romance 💞 Second-Chance RomanceThe first time Courtland Navarro saw Charleigh Lynn Kensington, she was yelling at her old boss about a yeast infection.
Court didn’t know that his heart could even beat after the loss of his late wife, but in that moment, when she was yelling about a bladder infection from hell, he realized that maybe he hadn’t died inside after all.
The second time he saw her, he was protecting her from herself.
The big—actually quite small—bad—more like a pissed-off Chihuahua—Marine thought she could handle herself. And honestly, she might have been able to. But she was five-foot-nothing, had crazy blonde hair, and looked like one hell of an easy target.
To say that they got off on the wrong foot would be an understatement.
Then, searching for something to do with his life after getting out of prison, he finds a mechanic shop for sale. So he buys it.
Little did he know that Charleigh had wanted that shop.
And now she had even more reason to hate him.
She tries her hardest to hold on to the anger, the utter dislike of all things Court Navarro. But Charleigh doesn’t stand a chance.
Court has set his sights on her, and there’s nothing that she can do but surrender.
But, maybe, that was what she wanted all along.
Someone to fight for her.

my review
If you have been reading this series then you already know that Charleigh lost her best friend years earlier in a drunk driving accident. One that her friend’s sister caused and it also is the reason Charleigh owes some shares of the Condors and Cowgirls sports teams. The accident left her with massive medical bills and her friend’s wealthy parents gave her shares.
Court is in Montana starting a new life after his own losses and let me tell you Charleigh does not like him at first. Then Beau comes up with a plan to deal with his sister (the drunk driver) and asks Court to buy him out. Now Court and Charleigh own the majority in both teams and are working together.
Let me say there are side characters in this book that will make you want to pull your hair out. Honestly, there were moments I thought I could just scream. We do get a rather sad moment again but one we have already had just a different perspective which I liked. It gave it all a much fuller story.
Court and Charleigh are a powerhouse together and I will say when things finally come to a head with all of the drama, the best scene ever happens! It is one of those that when you read it, you read it again and hear music playing while it is playing out in slow motion. I will say that scene is right up with Quaid Carter sliding across the hood of a car in I Can’t Even.
I read this book entirely too quickly and as soon as I finished I wanted to start over again. I will also say I am so excited about Black’s book coming out next. It was set up perfectly and I can’t wait for that story.
