This is the first book I have read by Margaret McHeyzer and I must say I enjoyed it a lot. The writing style was wonderful and I loved the play off the title. Hope and River are the two main characters.

Hope flips houses for a living but she needs some time away. She finds a house in a small town and decides it will be the perfect house. She decides that she will bring her brother to help her with the renovations. Sounds pretty easy right? Well, it would be if she doesn’t discover River. He happens to be an old boyfriend. The one who got away if you will. Maybe it was simply a matter of timing and now is the perfect time for them?

This book is emotional but also funny and so well written. I’m excited to have read the next book and ready for the third one. There were plenty of moments that I wanted to shake some sense into Hope yet I understood her at the same time.
