Bring an author to work day just got spicy.
River
I moved to Santa Maria for peace and quiet.
Not for a saucy little bookworm determined to ruin both.
But Jasmine Knudsen is the most infuriatingly stubborn woman I've ever met.
Everywhere I go, she's there, refusing to take no for an answer.
She might be winning because I've never wanted anything the way I want her.
But she isn't interested in being caught…until I don't leave her a choice.
Now, we aren't playing her game. We're playing mine.
And when a future with her is on the line?
There's nothing I won't do to win.
Jasmine
I read smut, and I know things. It's what I do.
What I don't do is back down.
So when local romance author, River "I'm Too Good for Your Book Club" Jamison, refuses to come speak, I declare war.
He thought I was kidding when I swore to annoy him until he agreed.
I wasn't.
I thought he was joking when he threatened to have me arrested.
Turns out, the big grump wasn't kidding, either.
Now, he's refusing to drop the charges unless I go out with him.
And I must be losing it because I'm not saying no.
But I did not expect to become the main suspect when his latest manuscript goes missing.
Which means I might end up right back in jail.
Only this time, it's not just my freedom at stake.
It's my heart, too.
About the Series
Good girls need spicy books. At least, that's the philosophy at this small-town bookstore. But the group of bookish friends who call the store home never planned for the feral men willing to fall at their feet...or for the lengths they'd go to secure their own happily-ever-afters.Now, they're up to their elbows, in over their heads, and the only experience they have with navigating love comes from the books they read.
What could possibly go wrong?
Book of Love is a small-town rom-com series set in Wine Country that's high on heat and laughter, and low on drama.

my review
Jasmine was not about to give up.
All she wanted was for River to come speak to the ladies at her bookstore’s book club. That shouldn’t have been such a difficult request, but River seemed to take personal pleasure in making sure it was. The man was rude, stubborn, and entirely too amused by how much he annoyed her.
Honestly, I liked him immediately.
The two of them spend a good portion of this book driving each other absolutely crazy. Jasmine keeps showing up. River keeps saying no. Threats of calling the police are made. At one point he actually follows through. If someone had told me a romance that included the hero having the heroine arrested would end up being this cute, I probably wouldn’t have believed them.
What made this work was the chemistry between them. The attraction is there from the start, but neither one makes things easy. Jasmine is stubborn in her own right and refuses to let River intimidate her. River acts like he’s trying to get rid of her, but every action says otherwise. Watching him slowly realize he has absolutely no chance of escaping this woman was one of my favorite parts of the story.
I laughed a lot while reading this one. Their banter felt natural and never forced. The more they got under each other’s skin, the more obvious it became that they were exactly what the other needed.
There is also some drama involving a leaked manuscript that adds tension to the story. What I appreciated most was that River never once questioned Jasmine’s loyalty. Other people were quick to point fingers and jump to conclusions, but not him. He knew who she was and trusted her completely. I loved that.
The romance itself is sweet, funny, and surprisingly tender. Beneath all the bickering and frustration is a couple that genuinely sees and understands each other. When the walls finally come down and they stop fighting what is right in front of them, it feels earned.
This book made me laugh, made me smile, and kept me turning pages to see what ridiculous thing these two would do next. River and Jasmine were a perfect match, even if it took them a while to figure it out.
