He saw her from across a crowded ballpark and knew she was about to change his life.
Yes, he realizes just how cliché that really is, but the moment his eyes locked on her, he knew that she was the one.
At least, the one that royally screwed him over. The one responsible for his demotion and the subsequent disciplinary action taken against him before he’d even gotten out of the probationary period with Kilgore Police Department.
It all started with a kiss.
***
Saylor Rae Spada tried to mind her business. She also tried to not get involved in petty disputes.
However, from the moment she saw him sitting next to her at a professional baseball game, a game she didn’t even want to be at but was dragged to by her blind date, she couldn’t look away.
Then the kiss cam came on, featuring none other than her and the handsome stranger.
Without missing a beat, he kissed her.
Then her blind date decided to pull a knife and try to stab him.
From that point forward, she’s done nothing but cause him trouble.
Trouble that he’s starting to find increasingly adorable.
I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Sailor (the daughter of Adeline and Tiago “Kettle” Spada) was one of my favorite children from past books. She was born deaf and her parents were more than a little scared. However, Dixie, an MC member told her parents she was perfect and that helped them settle their fears. I wondered if her deafness would play into her story. It does but it doesn’t hinder her much.
Lachlan Downey, Jr, or Lock,( the son of the Kilgore SWAT team negotiator, Lachlan Downy, Sr and his wife, Memphis ) is also a police officer. He was set to follow in his father’s footsteps but a kiss-cam incident at a ball game with Sailor puts him on the motorcycle patrol. While the kiss is hot the two don’t see each other again until their friends’ wedding which also happens to be the night before Sailor is set to leave and move back home.
Lock knows he can’t let her leave. They need to see where this chemistry between them and the feelings they have will take them. So he puts a plan in motion. One that includes his mother. Of course there is always someone out to stop that happiness.
I loved, LOVED these two together! They have such chemistry but also a sweetness that really brings their relationship to the next level. Lock is perfect for Sailor much to Kettle’s chagrin but even he can see it. Her deafness didn’t bother Lock at all. In fact, it is mention and discussed but not in a horrible way as I said. I also adored getting to see both sets of parents. We even find out a little about our next character.

Back in my teens, in the late 70’s, ‘romance’ novels were nothing like this, lol. They were very Barbara Cartland style reads. I have a feeling this is different!
