Books That Describe My Life | Top Ten Tuesday #TTT

Apr. 14, 2026

TTT-Transparent-768x308

There’s something about book titles that feels a little like poetry. A few well-chosen words can capture an entire feeling, a season of life, or even a version of yourself you’re still growing into. When I sat down to think about this week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt, I realized my life isn’t defined by just one title—it’s a collection of them. Some reflect where I’ve been, some feel like where I am right now, and a few might just be hints of where I’m headed next.

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely Jana over at That Artsy Reader Girl. Click on over to her blog and give her some love. If you want to join in the TTT fun, you can find all the information on her blog.

Book Titles That Describe Me / My Life

  • The Cozy Life by Pia Edberg
  • Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
  • The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
  • The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
  • You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
  • The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
  • The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
  • The Road Back to You by Ian Morgan Cron & Suzanne Stabile
  • Start Where You Are by Meera Lee Patel

1. The Cozy Life by Pia Edberg
Because I’ve intentionally built a life around comfort, home, and those quiet, meaningful moments.

2. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Creativity is such a huge part of my world—writing, blogging, dreaming up new ideas—and this title fits that energy perfectly.

3. The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes
Even if I’m not saying yes to everything, this reflects stepping outside comfort zones and trying new things.

4. You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
A little confidence boost reminder that I can build the life I want, even if I’m still figuring it out.

5. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
Not just about stuff—about creating space for what actually matters.

6. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin
Because I’m always working toward a life that feels joyful, intentional, and meaningful in the everyday.

7. Atomic Habits by James Clear
This one fits all the systems, routines, and small daily actions I’m trying to build into something bigger.

8. The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George
A love of books, storytelling, and the idea that stories can heal and guide us.

9. The Road Back to You by Ian Morgan Cron & Suzanne Stabile
A reminder of self-discovery, growth, and understanding who you really are.

10. Start Where You Are by Meera Lee Patel
This might be the most accurate of all—just beginning right where I am and building from there.

What a List!

Looking at this list, I realize my life isn’t tied up in one perfect title—and I think that’s the beauty of it. It’s a mix of chapters, genres, and moments that don’t always make sense until you step back and see the bigger picture. Some of these titles feel like where I’ve been, some reflect where I am right now, and a few are reminders of the life I’m still building—one day, one choice, and one small step at a time.

And if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s this: my story isn’t finished yet… and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the next title will be. And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Rita. I know I’ve never visited your blog before. I would remember since Rita is a special name to me — my daughter is named Rita and I named her after my best friend, another Rita. I think today’s prompt is fun since I get to know people a bit more than usual. Thanks for sharing your impressions of yourself. Start Where You Are is an excellent suggestion.

I had never visited your blog either. I am trying to get back into doing these. I love that your daughter’s name is Rita. It is a rather old fashioned name now.

This is a great list of books. It was a hard topic for me, but I enjoyed doing it. There’s definitely not just one title to describe a perfect life. It takes a bunch of books 🙂 You did great with this topic.

Thank you so much! It does take a lot of books to even become close to describe the perfect life.

This looks like a great list! I really need to get round to reading Atomic Habits at some point; it’s one we’ve talked about a few times at work (since my job is habit-related).

I’ve never purposefully done any kind of challenge of saying “yes” but I feel like, to a point, it could be fun because otherwise, how would we possibly discover new favorite things? 🙂 Thanks for visiting my list today!

I set guidelines. Like I’m not saying yes to every single thing but certainly new things. Like I walked to a festival this past Saturday. It was the best day.

What a lovely list! I’m all about the cozy comforts of home 🙂 I love that so many of your answers are about the life/world you are intentionally building for yourself. Beautiful.

What an excellent list! Several of your titles are on my TBR and I can relate to those that aren’t (yet)! I read Atomic Habits years ago and still often think about how simple and profound habit stacking in my life has been. Hope the rest of your week is wonderful!
