This is the second book in the series and while it can be read alone I felt that I missed out on getting to know these characters better having not read the first one.

This is an engaging read about a close-knit community, where most residents live nearby and share intertwined lives. Which was pretty normal for the time period which I enjoyed. I also enjoyed learning more about the fashion of the time.

This book does a great job capturing the day-to-day lives of the characters, their work, a little romance, and the underlying tension of an attacker targeting local women. References to historical events, such as the Women’s Movement, adds more layers and depth to not only the setting but the story as well. Although I hadn’t read the first book, the large cast of characters didn’t detract from the story, and while some things are resolved, others are left open for the next installment in the series.
