I’ll Just Date Myself by Lani Lynn Vale | Book Review

I’ll Just Date Myself by Lani Lynn Vale | Book Review

The final book of the series and the couple everyone has been waiting for. I am always sad when a series ends but I think this one ended well and introduced the next series in the best possible way.

I'll Just Date Myself by Lani Lynn Vale
Series: Gator Bait MC #7
Genres: Romantic Suspense

Normally when you say, “I have a stalker,” you think bad thoughts.
That wasn’t the kind of stalker Folsom was when it came to Kobe Sano. Folsom
liked to call herself a “guardian angel in disguise.”

The first time he catches her attention, he’s been assigned
to hunt her down and throw away the key. All she did was steal someone else’s
child. Well, embryo, that is. What Kobe doesn’t know, though, is the man that
hired him is up to no good, and she has no other choice but to run without
looking back.

From that moment on, she spends the rest of her spare time
running away from him while also digging into every nook and cranny of his
personal life, finding every weakness he has and utilizing it any way she needs
to keep herself one step ahead of him.

Only one day, when she goes to do her usual snooping, she
finds out that not only is her favorite person in trouble, but he’s also in
need of her help.

Too bad it takes her years to find that help.

Her next step is to break him out of the pokey prison-break
style.

If she knew he’d go without question, she very well might
have.

***

It didn’t take a genius to know when someone was stalking
you. The signs were all there, and they eventually pointed right at Folsom.

When he figures it out, he plans to confront her and maybe
address the silent sexual tension that’s been brewing between them for the last
few years.

However, right when he’s ready to admit to himself that she
might be the one—daughter who intimidates the hell out of him or not—she up and
disappears for a year.

In that year, he spends every waking moment searching for
her.

And eventually he finds her, confronts her, and is hit in
the face with the secrets she’s kept from him for years.

One of which is a big one.

I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Folsom after she got a major overhaul. I didn’t just like her I LOVED her! She was so great. She was always up in everyone’s business whether she belonged there or not. She would help regardless of if someone asked for it or needed it. It was something she did for Kobe for a long time. Something he didn’t even realize she did at first.

Kobe was quiet for the most part in previous books. I just wasn’t sure what to make of him. There wasn’t much to his story that the other guys knew but Folsom barged into his life and just invaded it.

There was so much mystery surrounding these two and it made for such a great story. They had a connection from before that Folsom kept to herself. Beyond that they had chemistry off the charts. I swear they were the couple that you knew were either going to get together or kill one another.

The side characters in this one are just as awesome. Folsom’s daughter JP is her clone! She made Kobe fall as hard for her as he did her mother. We also got a look into the Singh Circus which is the next series from LLV.

Not to mention that we got some Souls Chapel Revenants, Freebirds, Dixie Wardens, and Bear Bottom Guardians in this book which is always wonderful. I love when we see characters from previous series and their connection to those here. We also FINALLY found out how and why the Gator Bait guys got out of prison. You are going to love the reason.

I loved watching her in action.

Her genius-level IQ may irritate—and scare—the hell out of me, but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t the most interesting person to watch while she worked.

From what I understood from what Folsom had told me, as well as what was shared by the other ladies of the MC, Folsom had quite a few degrees.

Her latest one was in veterinary science.

The one degree she didn’t have but probably had the most experience in was hacking-related or computer science.

I hadn’t been able to find anything on her previous life, either when I’d done a thorough background search on her.

She was like a ghost in the world and ended up looking rather innocuous when I took some significant time looking into her.

When I got out of prison, I didn’t run into Folsom until after about six months of being out.

From there, when I was working cases, I started getting anonymous tips that would help me solve a case or give me that little clue that I needed to make pieces in my case click into place.

Eventually, her best friend Morrigan started dating one of my club members, and finally, my anonymous case helper was brought to light.

That’s when I realized that Folsom knew a hell of a lot more about me than she probably should.

As in, there was no way in hell she knew all the stuff she did about me by getting that information from the rest of the MC and their wives. I just wasn’t that sharing of a person.

Eventually, I realized that Folsom had no sense of decency and couldn’t care less whose life she invaded. Once I realized that, it became a lot easier to deal with her invasion. She did what she wanted, when she wanted, and helped me solve cases. Some of which I didn’t even need help with.

“What are you doing?”

I looked over to find Sam staring at me, lost in thought.

“Thinking,” I admitted. “Looking at her work.”

Holly Lorena Cain, formerly known as Georgina Lorena Cain, was well acquainted with rock bottom. She’s coasted along its rocky shores for years. It all started when her mother left her when she was barely old enough to understand. For years, her and her dad struggled to make ends meet. A dying cattle farm can’t run itself, and with her dad having cancer, it got harder and harder to hang on to land that’s been in her family for generations.

Just as she thinks that she’s finally made it, her father passes away and leaves every single thing he owns to their neighbor. The man that’d been worming his way into her father’s good graces while she’d been away pursuing higher education.

But she can’t be mad.

Being mad would mean that she has a soul left, but she sold that a long time ago to pay for college.

Once she comes to terms with her father and the land being gone, she moves back to Bear Pass and with one thing on her mind—avoid Denver at all costs. He can never know just how much it hurt that he stole her life away from her.

Only, he makes it impossibly hard to stay away.

He’s there around every corner. He offers her a place to stay. Makes sure she has a place to work. Fixes her car. Saves her from a kidnapper. Oh, and gives her everything her heart desires.

She stays away as best as she can, but she doesn’t stand a chance against Denver’s determination and charm. He’s there when no one else is, peeling her off the floor and propping her back up again each time she falls.

The gruff motorcycle club president with his scary glares and harsh work ethic has decided to make her his, and he won’t stand for her refusal.

He’s been protecting her for her entire life, and she doesn’t even know it.

He won’t stop now, even if she’s bound and determined to stay away.
