June 2023 Featured Authors

Jun. 02, 2023

June 2023 Authors of the Month

Welcome to June 2023 Authors of the Month. Another month another set of authors for y’all to enjoy. This month’s authors are all new to me and some that y’all gave me ideas for last year when I asked for recommendations.

l got so many book and author recommendations that I am seriously thinking about asking again for next year. This group of authors write

Emily Henry

Okay, I admit I haven’t read any of Emily Henry’s books. However her covers alone make me want to read them. Just look at how bright and inviting those babies are. The reviews of her books are good and I have certainly added her to my need to read author list for the summer.

  • People You Meet on Vacation
  • Beach Read
  • Happy Place
  • Book Lovers

The four books I have showcased are the four that I am planning to start with. I think they are the perfect place to begin with for me. Okay, I think the covers are awesome and hope that the books are as well.

About Emily Henry

Emily Henry is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Book Lovers, People We Meet on Vacation, and Beach Read, as well as the forthcoming Happy Place. She lives and writes in Cincinnati and the part of Kentucky just beneath it.

Melanie Harlow

Melanie Harlow is a new to me author as well. Let me say that I love her covers as well. I know that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but sometimes you just can’t help it. These are amazing covers and they really grab your attention.

  • Drive Me Wild
  • Runaway Love
  • After We Fall
  • Only You

Again, she has become an author that I am going to read. I have heard good things about her from other bloggers as well as from readers. So I am looking forward to getting into her books and letting y’all know what I think.

About Melanie Harlow

Melanie Harlow likes her martinis dry, her heels high, and her history with the naughty bits left in. Her stories are about modern couples falling in old-fashioned love, and even though romance is a fantasy, her heroes and heroines are everyday people with real problems who stumble on their way to happily ever after. She lifts her glass to readers and writers from her home near Detroit, MI, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.

Eloisa James

I actually have heard of Eloisa James and she is currently in my to be read pile. If you read Historical Romance then you certainly have heard of her as well. I’m mean you know she good when she wrote a part of a book in The Bridgerton series.

  • Not that Duke
  • How to Be a Wallflower
  • The Reluctant Countess
  • The Most Willing Lady

I am not actually which ones or how many of her books are in my pile but I know that it is more than one. She is actually coming up next in the stack and I am pretty excited.

About Eloisa James

New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James writes historical romances for HarperCollins Publishers. Her novels have been published to great acclaim. A reviewer from USA Today wrote of Eloisa's very first book that she "found herself devouring the book like a dieter with a Hershey bar"; later People Magazine raved that "romance writing does not get much better than this." Her novels have repeatedly received starred reviews from Publishers' Weekly and Library Journal and regularly appear on the best-seller lists.

After graduating from Harvard University, Eloisa got an M.Phil. from Oxford University, a Ph.D. from Yale and eventually became a Shakespeare professor, publishing an academic book with Oxford University Press. Currently she is an associate professor and head of the Creative Writing program at Fordham University in New York City. Her "double life" is a source of fascination to the media and her readers. In her professorial guise, she's written a New York Times op-ed defending romance, as well as articles published everywhere from women's magazines such as More to writers' journals such as the Romance Writers' Report.

Unfortunate Games by Nichole Rose

Her fortune wasn't supposed to be her fate.

Emelia
Drunkenly folding my way into a future with the hottest goalie in the league wasn't how I intended to spend Saturday night, but here we are.

Clearly, my besties should not be in charge of Girl's Night activities.

One cootie catcher later, and Royce Elliot is determined to make this wild prediction a reality.

I'm absolutely not interested. Until I am.

He's supposed to be my client, not the man I can't resist.

But with every touch and every kiss, this feels less like a gameโ€ฆ
and more like forever.

Royce
I know hockey, not how to win over a stubborn, fiercely independent publicist.

But the second I meet Emelia Jรณnsson, I stop caring about shutouts.
I care about her.

She says her fortune teller doesn't mean anythingโ€”that it's just a childish game.
I say fate handed me an opening, and I'm not going to miss my shot.

I didn't expect her to ignite the way she does for me.
And I never imagined Iโ€™d fall this hard, this fast.

She swears this can't happen.
She's wrong.

I'm not backing down until she admits the truth.
We were never just a game.
The two of us were fate.

Rafe Montero keeps his world quiet, controlled, and carefully structured.

As a wounded veteran turned demanding boss, the last thing he wants is a distraction, especially in the form of the bright, chaotic energy of his new employee. Beneath her playful confidence, though, is a woman determined to prove herself โ€” even if her brooding boss keeps pushing her away.

Seraphina is everything Rafe isnโ€™t. Sheโ€™s outgoing where heโ€™s guarded, spontaneous where heโ€™s rigid, and impossible to ignore.

The more they clash in the workplace, the more undeniable the tension becomes. When late nights at the office turn into stolen moments and guarded confessions, Rafe realizes Seraphina might be the one person capable of breaking through the walls he built.

My Wounded Boss is an instalove romance featuring a possessive alpha hero, sizzling chemistry, a fiery heroine, a broody hero, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

Meet Mitsi Blunderlockโ€”a witch who graduated from Gloombubble Academy with one rather unfortunate problem: she can't fly.

After one spectacular crash leaves her with a crooked nose and a healthy respect for gravity, Mitsi decides that perhaps the sky isn't where she's meant to be. When a mysterious message in her tea leaves tells her to "GO. NOW.", she heads to the charming town of Marivell in a magical pumpkin carriage built by her inventor father.

What follows sounds like the kind of cozy fantasy adventure I absolutely love: a witch finding her place in the world, a town full of quirky magical characters, a distinguished werewolf, eccentric harpies, an opossum baker, and a whole lot of heart.
