Magical Beginnings in Little Beaubrook by Bella Brightside
Genres: Contemporary Fiction
Some places are special enough to heal hearts… Welcome to Little Beaubrook
In a tiny English village hidden away for decades, the mists are parting to reveal a manor which glows gold and tumbledown thatched cottages that have been waiting for the right people to rebuild them.
On moving in day, a diverse group of new neighbours have only two things in common. Their hearts have been broken in some way, and they’ve all signed a contract with some very strange stipulations, including buying one of the cottages for a pound. As Chair of the commonhold association, Albie Curville hopes that by sharing his late wife’s rules for living he can bring these reluctant strangers together to fulfil her dying wish before he runs out of time… and before they discover his secret.
When their newfound community – built on kindness, friendship and a manor with a long history of helping those in need – is threatened by an outside source, can they finally overcome their pasts to save Little Beaubrook and seize the second chances they deserve?
Come and visit this magical lost village for a cosy, feel-good story about love, found family, new beginnings and the healing power of community. Perfect for fans of Debbie Johnson, Jenny Colgan, Evie Woods and Phaedra Patrick.

Review
From the moment I was introduced to Albie Curville and his mysterious, Brigadoon-like manor nestled in the beautiful hills of Dorset and Hampshire, I was completely intrigued. The premise alone drew me in: a group of strangers invited to stay at the manor while they work together to renovate the neglected cottages of Little Beaubrook. It’s the kind of setup that promises transformation, both for the village and the people within it.
As someone who loves renovation shows, I found the restoration aspect especially enjoyable. Watching each character approach the challenge of rebuilding the cottages—some with enthusiasm and others with hesitation—added a really engaging layer to the story. It was fascinating to see how the physical rebuilding of the village mirrored the emotional rebuilding happening in the characters’ lives.
The characters themselves are one of the book’s greatest strengths. Each of them arrives in Little Beaubrook carrying their own struggles and reasons for needing a fresh start. As their stories unfold, you see how the village becomes more than just a temporary home—it becomes a support system. I particularly enjoyed following Tori, Harley, and Clover, whose journeys added warmth and depth to the narrative.
What truly makes this story special is the gentle thread of magic woven throughout. It’s never overwhelming or flashy, but rather something that slowly grows in the background, subtly touching the lives of the characters as they begin to heal, connect, and form a real sense of community. That quiet enchantment gives the whole story a comforting and uplifting atmosphere.
Little Beaubrook itself feels like a character. The setting is beautifully described, and it was easy to imagine wandering through the village and watching it slowly come back to life. In times when the world can feel uncertain, stories like this offer a wonderful escape.
With its themes of renewal, friendship, and the quiet magic of human connection, this book feels like a warm hug in story form. It’s a charming, comforting read and one I can easily see myself returning to when I want something uplifting.
