Stryker by Fiona Davenport | Book Review

Starting a new MC series always feels like a bit of a gamble. Will the club feel believable? Will the brothers be memorable? Will there be that one character who immediately grabs your attention? Stryker answered all of those questions within the first few chapters, and by the time I finished, I was already looking forward to seeing where the Black Crowns MC goes next.Stryker by Fiona Davenport | Book Reviewfive-stars

Series: Black Crowns MC #1
Genres: MC Romance

Brogan โ€œStrykerโ€ Rourke took the skills he learned in the military and built the Black Crowns MC into an empire. Their territory was vast, with only one parcel of land needed to complete itโ€”the Rutledge Ranch.

Jacqueline Rutledge came to Sable Canyon to honor her grandfather and build her horse rehabilitation dream. She never expected Stryker to help when trouble came for the ranch. Or that heโ€™d move into her house and make it clear no one gets to Jacqueline without going through him first.

my review

I love discovering the first book in a new MC series, especially when it leaves me excited to meet every single member of the club. Stryker did exactly that. Fiona Davenport introduced the Black Crowns MC in a way that immediately made me want to spend more time with these characters.

Stryker won me over from the beginning. He’s protective, possessive, and every bit the alpha hero I hoped he would be, but he also has a strong sense of loyalty that runs through everything he does. When he learns that his late mentor’s ranch has been left to Jacqueline, buying the property is simply business. The moment he sees her standing on the porch dealing with trouble she never should have faced alone, everything changes.

I loved Jacqueline just as much. She doesn’t instantly trust Stryker or the motorcycle club, and honestly, I wouldn’t have expected her to. Watching that trust build little by little made their relationship feel much more believable. As she spends time around the club, she begins to see that beneath the rough exteriors is a family that would do anything to protect the people they love.

The chemistry between Stryker and Jacqueline was there from the start, but one of my favorite parts of the book was the banter between them. The misunderstanding that kicks off their story had me smiling, and it set the tone for a relationship filled with plenty of entertaining moments alongside the romance.

The suspense surrounding the ranch added another layer to the story. Discovering what had been happening on the property since Otis passed away kept the pages turning without taking away from the relationship developing between Stryker and Jacqueline.

By the end of the book, I found myself just as interested in the rest of the Black Crowns brothers as I was in the main couple. Fiona Davenport introduced enough of the club to leave me curious about everyone’s story, and that’s exactly what I want from the first book in a series.
