my review
I swear every time I think these authors have possibly exhausted every storyline imaginable, they come back with something fresh, exciting, and completely addictive. This book had me hooked from the very first page and never once let me go.
As someone who loves crime procedurals and profiling shows, this story was right in my wheelhouse. The opening alone had my heart racing. Delaney’s escape and the way she crashes into Rev’s life felt like something straight out of a thriller movie, and from that moment on I was completely invested.
Rev was everything I wanted in a hero. He’s gruff, guarded, and incredibly good at what he does, but underneath all of that is a fiercely protective man who would do absolutely anything for the people he cares about. Watching him soften for Delaney was one of my favorite parts of the entire book. The contrast between the tough profiler everyone sees and the gentle, patient man she needs was beautifully done.
What I appreciated most was that the story didn’t rush Delaney’s recovery. After everything she’d endured, the focus wasn’t simply on romance. It was about healing, learning to trust again, and finding safety in a place she never expected. The MC wasn’t just a backdrop here—it became a family. Watching Delaney slowly realize that these people genuinely cared about her and would protect her no matter what was incredibly moving.
The romance was everything I hoped it would be. The chemistry between Rev and Delaney practically jumped off the page, and the emotional connection that developed between them made every moment feel earned. The heat was definitely there, but it was the trust, support, and unwavering loyalty that really made me fall in love with this couple.
And can we talk about the found family aspect? Because that may have been my favorite part of all. Delaney didn’t just find a man who loved her—she found an entire village ready to stand beside her.
This is easily one of my favorite books in the series. Suspenseful, emotional, romantic, and impossible to put down. I loved every single minute of it.
