my review
This book felt very different from the earlier books in the series, but honestly? By the time I reached the ending, I absolutely loved how everything came together.
I’ll admit that at first I wasn’t completely sure how I felt about Tyre and Cecily together. Tyre was all in from the very beginning, completely devoted and borderline obsessed in the best kind of MC romance way, while Cecily always seemed to keep one foot outside the relationship because of her Olympic dreams. There were moments where that emotional distance frustrated me because it made their connection feel less immediate than some of the previous couples in the series.
But at the same time… I understood her.
Her dreams mattered to her, and I appreciated that the story allowed her to hold onto them instead of instantly dropping everything for romance. It created a very different dynamic than the earlier books, especially because Tyre’s MC life and Cecily’s athletic career almost ran parallel to one another instead of constantly colliding. It gave this story its own identity within the series.
What really sold me on this couple was Tyre. The man would have burned his whole world down for her without hesitation. The way he loved her, supported her, and was willing to sacrifice for her completely melted me. He brought so much heart to the story.
I also really appreciated that the drama stayed focused on external pressures rather than unnecessary relationship chaos. No cheating drama, no ridiculous misunderstandings dragged out forever—just two people trying to figure out how to make very different lives fit together.
And those epilogues? Absolutely perfect. They wrapped everything up in such a satisfying way while also leaving the door wide open for future stories in this MC world. Honestly, I am so ready for Rev’s book because that setup feels like it’s going to be intense, dangerous, emotional, and protective in all the best ways.
This may have been a different vibe for the series, but it worked beautifully in the end, and I loved every second of watching it unfold.
