I’ve loved every visit to Blackthorn Bay, and Fang Fatale is another reminder of why this series has become one of my favorite paranormal escapes. Every book introduces a new couple while expanding a magical world that somehow feels more charming every time I return.
Birdie immediately won me over. Becoming a runaway bride takes courage, and I admired that instead of settling for a life that wasn’t right for her, she chose the unknown. Hiding in the Forbidden Forest sounded dangerous enough, but it also turned out to be exactly where she needed to be.
Then there’s Alaric.
If you love a broody vampire who looks intimidating but quietly becomes the safest place for the heroine, you’re going to love him as much as I did. He’s hired to find Birdie, but the moment he meets her, everything changes. What I appreciated most was that he never tried to control her. After everything Birdie had been through, he gave her the time and space to make her own choices. Watching that trust slowly grow between them made their romance feel genuine.
The Forbidden Forest was one of my favorite parts of the book. Between the ancient magic, witches, nymphs, and the feeling that anything could happen beneath those trees, it became much more than a setting. It added another layer of mystery and wonder to the story that kept me turning pages.
I also loved the balance between romance and danger. There are real threats throughout the story, but the cozy atmosphere that has become such a hallmark of Blackthorn Bay never disappears. One minute I was smiling at Birdie and Alaric’s growing relationship, and the next I was wondering what danger might be waiting around the next bend in the forest.
One thing this series continues to do so well is create relationships built on trust instead of instant perfection. Birdie and Alaric don’t simply fall into a happily ever after. They take the time to understand each other, and that made every romantic moment feel earned.
I finished this book with the same thought I’ve had after every Blackthorn Bay novel.
I already can’t wait to come back.
