The pretty waitress is a mystery he needs to solve. Heโ€™s never been so attracted to a woman, and after one night in her company, heโ€™s sure she can handle his needs. Unfortunately, heโ€™s also sure sheโ€™s lying to him.

Jared โ€œGrimโ€ Burch found a home with the Barnes-Fleetwood family when he desperately needed one. With support from his newfound family, Grim beat all the odds and became a veterinarian. In Willow Fork, however, there are still people who are suspicious of him and his past. When he sees Nicole, he knows sheโ€™s the perfect woman for him and Josh, but he wonders if he has the right to bring her into his sometimes dangerous circle.

For Nicole Mason, Willow Fork is nothing more than a pit stop. Once she can save up the money to fix her car, sheโ€™ll do what sheโ€™s been doing for the last several years. Run. Framed for her husbandโ€™s murder, she can never stop looking over her shoulder. Thereโ€™s always someone on her trail, and she canโ€™t let them bring her back to the real killer. Getting to know Josh and Grim makes her dream of the life they could have together. If only she could trust them with her secrets.

When their past catches up to them all, theyโ€™ll find out that even a small town can be big trouble.

I am a huge Sophie Oak Fan! In fact, I read “her” books before I read the first Lexi Blake book not knowing that they were the same person. I was so excited when I heard she was writing about the next generation. You can read this book as a standalone but let me say there are plenty of characters mentioned from the past. This is about their children so you won’t be lost but if you are wondering about them you can go back and read their books as well. I have read them all and you won’t be disappointed.

If you are starting right here though you picked a wonderful start to this series. As always, Lexi did an amazing job of creating characters that just draw you in. I adored Josh Barnes-Fleetwood in the glimpses of him as a child but as an adult he is the perfect blending of his fathers. Grim, who found his place in the Barnes-Fleetwood family is a wonderful addition. Together they are looking for a woman who can handle their lifestyle.

Nicole is working at the diner until her car can get fixed. Josh and Grim know she is running from something but they aren’t sure what. When they bring the dads to help they are reminded quickly that Jack is always three steps ahead. While Nicole learns the Barnes-Fleetwood family will take you in and protect you.

This was simply a wonderful read and I always love reading anything that Lexi writes. Her books are so full of emotion, mystery, and love with plenty of spice that I fall in love with the characters in each new book.
