Maybe Later by Claudia Burgoa | Book Review

Mar. 07, 2019

I knew this was one that I wanted to read because the excerpts were so funny.

Maybe Later by Claudia Burgoa
Genres: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Comedy

My personal assistant—a.k.a. half my brain—has abandoned me to have a baby. Alright, alright, I’m not a total jerk, but the temporary virtual assistant Carla left in her place is driving me crazy.

I’ve repeatedly refused to fill out Amy Walker’s way-too-friendly questionnaire. But somehow, she ninjas me into giving up details about my private life—all while suffering her oh-so-subtle jabs at my likes, dislikes, even my system for running my business.

I don’t care what she heard, I am not a problem child. I just know what’s tried and true.

At first, her feel-good P.S. quotes sounded more like B.S. Yet our emails and texts gradually take on a new dimension, and I find myself thinking of her as something I haven’t cultivated in a long time. A friend.

Maybe she’s right. It’s time I get a life. Starting with stepping out from behind the screen and putting my feelings on the line. I’ll never know unless I try.

Note: Contains a grumpy, workaholic tech CEO with a guarded heart, and a virtual assistant whose skills border on diabolical. Also, two cats named Ramen and Sushi.

Maybe Later Book Review

This was by far one of the funniest books I have read in a while! While this book could be confusing and trust me writing about it can be it makes perfect sense when you read it. We have two people who appear to be so different that there is no way anything will work with them. What gets discovered is that for as different as Amy and Jackson appear they are really more alike. Both are hiding behind personas they created to protect themselves.

I loved the bantering they have back and forth via emails and messages. Can you just imagine? I have a hard time with messages because I’m never sure if what I’m reading is meant to sarcastic or not. Amy’s messages you know they are meant that way. She is way too personal about things for Jackson. After all she is an assistant and doesn’t need that much information. Like I said this was a joy to read and I know that it will be a book that I will read again and again.

Mrs. Jones,

Thank you for your inquiry about our services and for filling out our initial application. It’ll be a pleasure to help you find just the right virtual assistant for your need. Please, let me make sure we got some details right. On the application, you describe your current boss as impatient, aggressive, micromanaging, and somehow a social piranha.
Did I misread it? Is there a possibility that this was a typo?
If you could please correct or expand on your description, I’ll appreciate it. Mrs. Darlington explained our mission correctly. We always find the most fitting assistant for your company. Even for social piranhas. We have the right person for that. Our personnel is highly trained and holds at least a bachelor degree.

Best Regards,
E. Lancaster, CEO

I do enjoy a well written romantic comedy even though I’m more of a PNR girl. Sometimes you just want to lighten up and hopefully laugh out loud. I added this to my tbr pile as it sounds really funny with great banter.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars A bookstore owner stalks an author. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 Stars

A bookstore owner stalks an author.

The author threatens to call the police.

Then actually does.

Somehow this turns into a romance and I loved every minute of it. 😂

Jasmine and River were chaotic, stubborn, funny, and completely perfect together. Their banter carried this entire book for me.

Also, River trusting Jasmine when everyone else was questioning her? That man knew exactly who she was.

A town full of lovable busybodies ✔️

I loved how Liza and Cassian slowly became part of each other's everyday lives before romance really took center stage. They were so comfortable together and completely made me smile.

And Alaric's formal complaint? I laughed so hard I nearly spit out my drink. 😂

I cannot wait for the next trip back to Blackthorn Bay!

Bridger was the Rogue Pack wolf I most wanted to k Bridger was the Rogue Pack wolf I most wanted to know more about, and his story absolutely delivered. We've seen glimpses of him throughout the series—always keeping his distance while still showing up when it mattered most. Finally learning the truth behind his past and the loss he carries was heartbreaking.

Kit was not at all who I expected for Bridger, but she ended up being exactly what he needed. Their story felt a little different from the other books in the series, focusing more on healing, guilt, and emotional growth than outside conflict. I actually loved that change of pace.

The Rogue Pack's matchmaking antics had me shaking my head and laughing at the same time, and as always, the pack dynamics were one of my favorite parts of the book.

A sweet, emotional paranormal romance filled with heart, healing, and one grumpy wolf who finally gets the happiness he deserves. 🐺
